Katie reached out in the summer of 2018 to inquire about photographing her and Chris’ wedding at the The Historic Ambassador House & Heritage Gardens and I was immediately smitten with these two! 1. They were IU grads. 2. They’re friends with a past bride and groom (also IU grads!). 3. I hadn’t yet worked at the Ambassador House and was dying to! 4. These two are adorable together! We met at the Sangrita Saloon in Broad Ripple, gushed over wedding plans and it was a match made in heaven.
I love the blue palette Katie and Chris chose as a theme for the day. It was the perfect mix with sky blue bridesmaids gowns, a navy invitation suite and suits for the guys and a pop of color and jewels here and there.
I can’t recommend the Ambassador House enough. There was plenty of space to keep the guys and ladies separate (a must for a couple not seeing each other until the aisle!) and spacious suites for the bride and her ladies to dress in. A tucked away alcove made for the perfect location for Katie’s first look with her father, and some family and wedding party portraits.
All in all, it was a joyful day joining a very sweet, caring and in love duo. I was honored to be a part of the beginning of the rest of your lives. Thank you, Katie and Chris and blessings for many beautiful years together.
This might be the moment, where Katie’s uncle and officiant asked Chris if he would take Katie to be his wedded husband.. Ha! That was just the start of a bit of comedic relief during the ceremony, where Katie also professed her love by promising to always attend Colts games and NEVER attend a Dave Matthews concert.
